Jacksons Legacy Book- Fan Review

Jacksons Legacy Book Review 4

This book feels like something I've been waiting for FOREVER.

When I heard that the Jacksons were coming out with a book this past summer, I pretty much RAN to my computer to pre-order it. To say that I love the Jacksons may be an understatement.

I’d been waiting over two months for the books arrival. I made sure I was home on October 24th to receive the delivery (which sat in my building lobby unbeknownst to me, for hours before I was notified) but, that’s another story for another post!

I recently took time out this past weekend to visit a family member who needed some company. I knew I'd be there for a while so, instead of bringing my phone, I thought it might be fun to bring a book instead. I appreciate breaks away from technology sometimes.

Jacksons Legacy Book Review 2

I sat down with a cup of tea and Jacksons Legacy. It didn’t take long for me to realize that this book is everything I’d always hoped for.

Unreleased and rare photos of the Jacksons.

Interviews and perspectives from each of the brothers.

Exclusive details of memorabilia, costumes, and magazine features, most of which I'd never seen before.

The Jacksons Legacy features first hand accounts from Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon, and Michael (by way of quotes from his 1988 autobiography, Moonwalk). They share what it was like to tour the world, perform for the Queen, how it felt to be chased by mobs of fans in the 70s, and even how it was to record one of my personal loves, the Jackson 5's Christmas Album

Jackie Jackson recalled,

"We had just finished working on the Third Album and it took forever. We had one day off and then we started working on the Christmas album... It was hard work and I wanted to enjoy the summer a little bit. It was 95 degrees outside and we were singing about Christmas. But the album turned out really well and is one of my favorites".

The Jacksons, we learn, didn't realize how much of an impact they would have on the world. They were kids, having fun being entertainers and enjoying the journey.

But work for the Jackson brothers was constant. They were always traveling, rehearsing, recording, having photo sessions...  shooting television shows and commercials. I enjoyed hearing many of the new quotes and anecdotes from Jackie, especially, who as the oldest sibling of the Jackson family and the oldest member of the group, provides great insights.

The Jacksons Legacy book also features the discographies of each brother as a solo artist, including a separate list of singles, as well as ones for the Jackson 5 and the Jacksons. There's also a list of tour dates and cities starting, from their first US tour in 1970, to the Las Vegas shows, to Triumph, Victory, and the Unity Tour.

I recommend this book to all music lovers, both old and new. It's great for anyone who is curious to know more about one of the world's most iconic and accomplished families of music.

From the standpoint of a Michael Jackson fan, Jacksons Legacy is the perfect book to start with if you want to learn about his history as a performer, his roots, and his remarkable start as an entertainer.
