Fancy words will only ruin it.

"Touch" is one of those Jackson 5 songs that you listen to... enjoy... then realize what you just heard.
This song is from the album Skywriter and super sensual in its content.

Darlin' just relax
You melt me like hot candle wax
One touch and my whole body melts
You just say, you say you can't express yourself

Oh, just keep doin' what you're doin'
Fancy words will only ruin it
Touch (touch me)
That very special touch
If I satisfy you (if I satisfy you)
How can you satisfy me baby

Don't you worry baby why
You see these tears of love in my eyes
I feel this love flowin' through
Like a river girl straight through me to you

Your touch mean than words
Than any language ever heard
Touch (touch me)
That very special touch
Every brand new day (every brand new day)
I wake up wanting you the same ole way...

"Touch"  Skywriter 1973.

What is a 12 year old Michael Jackson doing about pleasing women in such a manner?

But with this song Michael does it, as he does most things very well. This song, as many songs that the Jackson 5 recorded was a tune performed originally by the Supremes. One of the things I really hate hearing is how Michael was "too young" to be singing about certain subjects. Well, to me, Michael's voice expresses such deep and raw emotion on certain songs that at times I've been moved to tears. Now many of these instances, I was a high schooler myself but, there are times now as I embark on my adult life that I sit back and listen to what he is saying and I truly do believe it.

Now I won't comment on the underlying sexual innuendos found in the lyrics of this song but... hey.
I'll just say that I'd totally encourage you to take a listen (if you aren't familiar with it already). I'd like to think that this would sound even more awesome performed by a mid-20's Michael.

How many of the artists on the radio today had the power and the heart to move souls like Michael Jackson did?

I'd argue not too many.

Coming to terms with the song Breaking News.

Okay so I am coming to you with an entry that kind sorta kills two birds with one stone.

Bear with me here.

So I wanted to show you one of my most prized possessions ... this really rare (and super cute) Michael Jackson women's shirt. So I told you guys about how I have wayyyyyy too many Michael Jackson t-shirts before. Well here is one of my favorites.  I love it because it's basically a fabric collage of newspaper clippings about Michael from the 1980s. I was sent this gift from an old friend (who I suspect may have gotten this from e-Bay).

It's always one of my best picks to wear during the summer season and I wanted to share it with you guys.

As you can see, most of the articles are written in what looks like French and all of the photos seem to be from the Thriller Era.

It has a scoop neck and a cute little tie on the right side. You guys can see that this is not the longest shirt that I own and I wore this a few years back to the Spike Lee Brooklyn Loves MJ event because it was the lightest MJ shirt I have (it was over 95 degrees and we were standing all in the direct sunlight!)

I also wanted to take this time out to talk about a song that is always a topic of discussion among Michael Jackson fans. The song BREAKING NEWS....

How do you feel about the song "Breaking News"?

I was like many other Michael Jackson fans around the world that waited anxiously on Michael's official website to hear the song and I was disappointed at first....

But now I love it.

I can't put my finger on it.

I am not the biggest fan of the lyrics but, I do enjoy listening to it now when I am talking my morning walk to the train station. It takes me a long time to warm up to new material (well, posthumous material anyway) and nearly a year (if not more???) later---- I can listen to it and have fun with it.

Did you have a hard time adjusting to posthumous Michael work like I did?

MJ Fan Girl's Top 3: Unreleased Michael Jackson songs

For a long time now my fan friends have always given me a strange look whenever I share that I don't listen to unreleased songs.

Am I the only one who feels this way?

I am into all Michael Jackson music, ranging from early Jackson 5 recordings all the way down to the THIS IS IT soundtrack but, I've never been too into listening to songs that haven't been officially released. It's one of my weird pet peeves. Whenever I've had a Michael album in hand, I've had so much joy in listening to it all the way through in its entirety. Sitting on my computer, downloading and then listening to some unnamed, unmarked song just was never fun for me. HOWEVER... there are 3 that have slipped through the radar and they are my TOP 3 UNRELEASED MICHAEL JACKSON SONGS.

Now keep in mind, these have all been "RELEASED" eventually but, I'm under the impression that most "unreleased" tracks will be released in spurts, in the years to come. Now ONTO THE LIST...

3. We Are Here to Change the World- With the recent re-release of Captain EO at Disney World and a select few Disneyland parks, I thought it was fit to mention one of my all-time favorite songs. This is just a super exciting track and I consider it to be one of my favorite King of Pop songs to work out to. Not only are the words uplifting, the sound effects and layers are awesome. I had the pleasure of joining in on a dance lesson where a fellow fan by day and entertainer by night, taught myself and other MJ fans how to perform the dance from the short film. Although a bit altered, it was pretty much spot-on and made me feel like I was one of MJ's backup dancers- cool! (Sidenote: If any of you readers are interested in checking out some cool dance events, be sure to join Legacy of Love, the Premier Michael Jackson Fan Club of New York for info about upcoming events in the tri-state area!)

2. Do You Know Where Your Children Are?- If it wasn't for the sentimental value of #1, this would be my ultimate fave! I love the new jack swing feel of this song. I am not the biggest fan of hip-hop but, I am certainly a lover of ALL R&B music and this just reminds me of  "ABC", "Remember the Time" and "Unbreakable" rolled all into one. It almost sounds like the SWV Human Nature Remix of Right Here, but more awesome. Like many Michael Jackson songs, this  puts me in a great mood and I'd reccommend it to any fan, especially those of you who are partial to the DANGEROUS-era sound.

1. Someone Put Your Hand Out - Another Dangerous-era track, this song has been one of my favorites for over ten years. It got me through a lot of rough times and is truly expressive of how I feel about a lot of my trials in life. Amazingly, this song was unreleased in the United States but released in the early 2000's on The Ultimate Collection box set (one of the best release dates of my life-- when I got mine in the mail, I could hardly contain myself!)  This line from SPYHO sums up so much of Michael "So someone put your hand out, I'm begging for your love... All I do is hand out - a heart that needs your love"... and so much of US as the Michael Jackson Fan Community. This song is super special for me and that it is why its # 1 on my list,

I am looking forward to hearing some of the unreleased tracks and demos that we will be getting on the BAD 25 Anniversary edition but, I will as always, be waiting to listen when I get the physical album in my hand.

What are your favorite unreleased songs?
Are you a fan that runs to download the lastest MP3 leak (or are you a Patient Patty like me?)

"Ice cream on a red hot stove'll melt, and I'll bet ya". Jackson 5 Song Review : I'll Bet You

One of the quirkiest and most fun songs about unconditional love, I first fell in love with "I'll Bet You" as a child. This Jackson 5 song was featured on one of the episodes of the J5 cartoon series and has been one of my faves ever since.

Admittedly, I can't say that this is one of the songs that I'd blast in my car but, its one that I think is a gem not only in terms of lyrical content but, also in terms of vocal performance. The song revolves around the notion that the woman of interest will never lose his love, and he'll bet that. "I'll Bet Cha Never Lose My Love" is full of metaphors and plays on words. Let's take a look at some of the lines...

"A carpenter can't build his house without any tools, and I'll Bet Ya! If your shoes are too small, they hurt your feet and I'll Bet Ya. And ya can't know what's going on if you're asleep,
 oh and I'll Bet Ya."

The song was written by George Clinton (of Atomic Dog fame) and is a cover that was first recorded by the Funkadelic's. I mentioned earlier that I really liked the vocal performances on this song. I really enjoy how the J5 made "I'll Bet You" their own and also how all of the brothers (except Marlon) were on lead vocals and on background! For those of you who are also J5 experts, you'll know that having almost all of the brothers on lead is a rare occurrence. Its nice for fans who may only be familiar with Michael's voice, to familiarize themselves with some of the other brothers too. I found a great site showing which brother sings each line so, check it out if you're interested!
"I'll Bet You" is my Jackson 5 song of the week and you can find this song on the ABC album HERE !

Super Groovy!

This week is not as busy or as stressful for me as last week so, I'm pretty excited about that. I have been thinking about how I can incorporate Michael into the decor of my new living space so, be on the look out for some posts on that! Song Review: "All I Do Is Think Of You" Jackson 5

I am an 80's baby but, I found myself at the height of my obsession with Jackson 5 music somewhere around 8th and 9th grade. No one could tell me that the Jackson 5 debuted almost 20 years before I was even born! I was listening to Jackson 5 compliation CDs on my discman, from the time I woke up in the morning, to when I laid my head on the pillow at night. I identified with so many of the songs back then, as I do now but, being in the same age group as Michael was when he recorded, made me feel an especially strong connection.

“I begun to take the long way home
Just so I can be alone
(To think of how to say)
You’re fine in every way
Hey I’m in love with you
I think the world of you
Oh, won’t you please, please be mine”

Many people my age first heard the song "All I Do Is Think of You" when the Bad Boy Group, B5 covered it in 2005. Others before my generation may have come to be familiar with the song with the Troop cover. It was no surprise to me that this song became a hit again and again each time it was covered but, I felt priveleged to have known the original in all it's glory.

This 1975 song was the final charted single before the Jackson 5 left Motown, to become the Jacksons on Epic Records.

The lyrics are quite simple and the theme is that of teenage love. It doesn't just end there though.

Michael does this sort of begging on the song (well, not pathetic- get away from me creep! begging). It's similar to that of the pleading and begging found on "Lady In My Life" and remisicent of the end of "You Are Not Alone". It's the type of singing that makes you feel that Michael is 1000% into what he is singing and makes you feel that he's talking to you!

I'd recommend this song to anyone who's got a crush that's only moments in the making or anyone that is just trying to get more into Jackson 5 music and doesn't know where to start. Do you find yourself thinking about that person non-stop and anxiously awaiting the next time you'll meet?

"All I Do Is Think Of You " is on amazon for only 99 cents!

Listen to this song and let me know what your thoughts are!
