I have some pretty exciting news! I had the honor of interviewing the amazing, talented, and iconic choreographer and director, Vincent Paterson. He has played such a major role in a lot of the Michael Jackson projects we know and love and I was thrilled to be able to talk with him about some of the short films and other performances that have been such a big part of my life.

If you ever wanted to know who created the dance sequence for Smooth Criminal, who choreographed Michael Jackson’s smooth criminal, how Michael Jackson did the lean in smooth criminal, and so much more about Michael Jackson’s dancing, you’re in for a real treat with today’s video! Award-winning Director and Choreographer Vincent Paterson has worked in nearly every genre of the entertainment industry, including film, theater, Broadway, concert tours, opera, music videos, television and commercials.

Vincent worked with Michael Jackson, Madonna, Bjork, Whitney Houston, Donna Summer, Van Halen, Paul McCartney & more. Vincent first appeared as a gang leader in the video for “Beat It” as well as a zombie dancer in “Thriller”.

He went on to choreograph & direct Michael Jackson’s first solo tour, the Bad Tour, as well as choreograph the videos for “Smooth Criminal” “The Way You Make Me Feel” “Black or White” and directed 1997’s “Blood on the Dance Floor”. Not to mention Vincent Paterson’s work on numerous other Michael Jackson appearances including the 1993 Superbowl Halftime Show and MTV10.
